Cultural Diversity
We celebrate diversity by valuing children's home languages and cultural backgrounds. Our multicultural staff and varied resources, such as cultural artefacts and multilingual greetings, foster an inclusive environment.
Supporting Home Languages and Cultural Diversity

At our home-based childcare, we support children’s home languages through our multicultural staff and diverse resources. We incorporate songs, storybooks, and artefacts from cultural resource bags to form a strong foundation for maintaining and celebrating home languages. Greetings are made in both the children’s and practitioners’ home languages, and activities such as music, movement, and storytelling sessions, often conducted by the local librarian, help children gain confidence in communication and language.

Enriching Learning through Community and Culture

Children expand their learning through rhythm and rhymes with a variety of programs, including music, visits to the local library for reading sessions, trips to the theatre, and musical concerts. We also engage with the wider community by inviting the fire brigade, lollipop people, dentists, and the police service to visit our childcare setting.

Celebrating Festivals and Events

Our children show great interest and actively participate in celebrations of festivals and events, learning to greet each other in different languages. This practice helps create awareness of cultural similarities and differences. Our confident practitioners, with support from the Cultural and Diversity Officer, provide an exceptional range of resources and activities that reflect and value the diversity of children’s experiences, aligning with British Values.
